Fourteen board games for two, built for iPhone Duo
A travel case in your phone. On iPhone Duo the hinge is part of the board and closing the phone is passing the turn. On any other iPhone or iPad it plays the same, passing the phone.
Watch it open
Twenty-eight seconds, no sound: place the fleet, close the phone and hand it over.
The fold is the game
There are hundreds of "two players on one phone" apps. Tapete only includes games where folding adds something a flat screen cannot.
The hinge is the board
The backgammon bar, the four-in-a-row frame, the river in xiangqi and the centre line of the go board fall exactly on the fold. Each half turns towards its player.
Each sees only their hand
Stand the phone up like a book and in brisca, tute or dominoes the cards turn face up on their own: the other half cannot be seen.
Passing the turn
In sea battle you place your fleet, close the phone and hand it over. When it opens, the other player sees only their side. No flat phone can do that.
The fourteen games
Tap any of them to see it on iPhone Duo. Traditional rules, no computer opponent: always two people.
The eleven games of the full case unlock with a single purchase, forever and with Family Sharing. No subscription, no ads.
Built for iPhone Duo
iPhone Duo is the first folding iPhone, book style: a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner one that opens like a notebook. Tapete is designed for that fold from day one, not a phone app stretched out.
It uses the iOS 27.1 hinge API to know whether the phone is open, in book posture or closed, and the reserved region of the fold to draw the brass hinge exactly where the physical one is, never covering the Dynamic Island. Game logic depends on the posture only, never on the angle.
Every game uses the fold differently: a shared board over the hinge (backgammon, go), one board per half (chess, draughts, four in a row), sideways with the river on the fold (xiangqi), private hands in book posture (brisca, tute, dominoes, liar's dice), the peg board on the hinge (cribbage) close-to-pass-the-turn (sea battle, secret code) and the hinge as the centre line (air hockey).
On a regular iPhone or an iPad everything works the same: what the Duo does by closing, a curtain with a "pass the phone" button does here. The app is universal and sold for every device; the foldable is the star version.
Made with care
The real rules
Draughts with flying kings and mandatory capture; chess with castling, en passant and every draw; backgammon with single, gammon and backgammon wins.
A travel case, not a menu
Felt, walnut and brass. Spanish and French decks of our own design. Pieces with weight and shadow.
Games save themselves
Folding, a call or closing the app never loses one.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an iPhone Duo to play?
No. Tapete works on any iPhone or iPad with iOS 15 or later. On iPhone Duo the fold is part of the game; elsewhere a "pass the phone" curtain plays the same role.
Can I play against the computer?
No, on purpose. Tapete is for two people sharing one phone, sitting across from each other. No artificial opponent and no online play.
How much does it cost?
Sea battle, four in a row and air hockey are free. The other eleven games unlock with a single purchase, the "Full case", forever and shared with your family. No subscription, no ads.
What data does it collect?
None. No accounts, no server, no analytics, no advertising or third-party SDKs. Games are saved only on your device.
Which languages?
Sixteen: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Indonesian and Thai. It follows the device language.
Will there be a version for folding Android phones?
It is planned for Android foldables (Samsung Galaxy Fold, Pixel Fold) after the iPhone launch.
